Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 Granny Smith apples
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Dash salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Two-layer 9-inch pie crust
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Peel and thinly slice the apples. Toss the apples in a bowl with all of the dry ingredients. Place the bottom crust in a 9-inch pie pan and dot with half of the butter. Place the apples in the pie crust of the pan and spread evenly. Dot the apples with the remaining butter. Cover with the second pie crust, flute the edges of the pastries to seal, and cut attractive vents in the top for releasing the heat. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until golden brown.

Serves 6 to 8.
